YG has been in the game for over a decade and has dropped consistent hits, but the quality of his albums tends to be inconsistent. This one in particular, titled ‘I Got Issues’, is surprisingly incoherent and sounds all-over-the-place. Certain songs sound fresh and relevant through their production, while others sound as though they were recorded at least five years ago. The vocal mixing on some songs is fantastic, while others sound as though they threw YG’s raw vocals over a beat and forgot to add anything beyond a basic EQ. A few catchy hooks show up here and there, and some of the beats sound unique enough to stand out. YG tends to throw funny/unorthodox bars into his songs, which he adds to several across this album. Single Scared Money is a fun song, with solid features from J. Cole and Moneybagg Yo, but YG’s opener on the track is overshadowed by the catchier, and better-written verses that follow it.
