New York rapper Homeboy Sandman just dropped his newest album 'Still Champion'. The artist primarily raps about life in the city, and storytelling illustrates the adventures he gets himself into. Flows and vocal tonality appear to draw influence from Quasimoto and A Tribe Called Quest, while production contains plenty of gritty drum loops sitting on top of thoughtfully-chosen soul and funk samples. Still Champion does many things well and is worth a listen for fans of old-school hip hop, especially those who crave tasteful samples and easy-going drums.
