Everyone's sleeping on the newest Freddie Gibbs Album; Here's Why You Shouldn't

R apper Freddie Gibbs has returned with a pretty solid album with quality beats and decent production. On $oul $old $eparately, beats feel cinematic and experimental which works to Gibbs’ benefit as he intertwines his hype bars with deep storytelling. The album contains a lot of variety, in that serious and reflective songs transition into bouncy, party-style tracks with impressive features. Freddie Gibbs really shines on songs where he reminisces and explores attitudes associated with difficult experiences in his life, such as Zipper Bagz and Lobster Omelette featuring Rick Ross. A few beats feel somewhat dated, but Gibbs’ flows and storytelling gives them new life. Give this album a listen and let us know what you think in the comments below. It’s not for everybody, but if you’re familiar with Freddie Gibbs’ previous projects it’s a nice extension of his current direction in sound.
