Veteran SoundCloud rapper Lil Yachty radically changed his sound on ‘Poland’, his newest song. It isn’t typical to hear Yachty on a rage beat of this style, but his beat choice indicates a distinct change in mainstream production trends. Producers evolving this style of production include F1lthy, GloryTee, and Bnyx to name a few, and the style seems to take influence from previous projects by Playboi Carti, Pierre Bourne, and others. The song’s lyrical content is easy to understand, as the hook repeats “I took the wok… to Poland” several times. Yachty’s appreciation for pharmaceutical company ‘Wockhardt’ shines through in his passionate tone and exciting flow. It should also be noted that ‘Poland’ could be a double entendre for po-land (pour land), reflecting the rapper’s excitement to pour up a cup as soon as his flight arrives in its destination country. While the song structure may be simple, it’s incredibly catchy and gets stuck in your head within minutes of hearing it for the first time.
